Titans Season Ends in 3A Quarterfinal Game
Bluffton, SC – Trinity Collegiate's varsity football season came to an end Friday night with a 42–20 loss to Hilton Head Christian Academy in the SCISA 3A Quarterfinals. The Titans put up a strong fight despite missing five defensive starters due to injury.
Senior quarterback Davidson Lynch (Florence, SC/All Saints Episcopal Day Schoo) led the Titan offense, completing 21 of 37 passes for 263 yards and one touchdown while also adding 34 yards and a score on the ground. Lynch also hauled in an interception on defense, starting his first ever game on that side of the ball. Senior receiver Desmond Williams II (Florence, SC/Wilson High School) was Lynch's top target, hauling in 11 receptions for 114 yards, while Garrison Copeland (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) added five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown, including a 51-yard scoring strike in the first half.
Junior Robert Mack (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) made an impact on both defense and special teams, recording 15 tackles and four tackles for loss on defense while also contributing on special teams with an 84-yard kickoff return touchdown. Defensively, Andre Jackson, Jr. (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) and Kyler Johnson (Darlington, SC/Darlington Middle School) each finished with seven tackles, and Jy'ell Preston (Darlington, SC/Darlington Middle School) added a sack and tackle for loss.
The Titans battled to stay within striking distance but were ultimately unable to contain a powerful Hilton Head Christian offense that capitalized on turnovers and field position. Trinity closed the season with a tough loss but showed resilience and playmaking ability throughout the contest.
The defeat ends a competitive season for Trinity Collegiate, who earned their place among the final eight in SCISA 3A. The Titans graduate several key contributors but return a strong nucleus as they look ahead to 2026.
